Welcome to Favorite Fridays!

A few weeks ago, out of the blue, my mom asked me what my favorite movies were. When I told her my faves, she was surprised by my answers and thought for sure I would have given different answers. This gave me an idea. In my quest for my readers to get to know me better (and for me to get to know you better as well) I have come up with Favorite Fridays. Hopefully I can come up with a snazzy logo too! Anyway, every Friday I will come up with a topic to list your favorites and share with your readers. I do hope that you will join me.

Apple Works

The girls and I headed off to Apple Works yesterday to enjoy a beautiful summer day. We were able to enjoy the animals at the petting zoo, the big tube slide in the barn, walk a few paths (we all pretended to be Dora & Boots on an adventure - how fun!!) and ended our afternoon with some refreshing ice cream. The little baby goat in the picture above is only two days old. She was so precious. The girls couldn't get enough of her. When we arrived at the petting zoo I was able to explain to Caroline how the mommy goat fed her new baby. Caroline was not really interested in that so she asked where the daddy goat was and I said... "He's probably in another pen right now." And she says to me..."Oh, I thought he was at work." Too funny!!

Prayers Please

On Tuesday afternoon my mother-in-law was involved in an automobile accident in northern Indiana. Her vehicle went airborne and flipped approx. three times and landed upside down in a ditch. She had to be extracted from the vehicle by the Jaws of Life and was flown by helicopter to a local hospital. Her injuries are minor, thank goodness. Alot of cuts, bruises, and three cracked ribs. She is so lucky that she was not injured more severely. No other vehicles or persons were involved.

My mother-in-law had an angel watching over her on Tuesday. She is now resting comfortably at home. If you could, please include her in your prayers for a fast and speedy recovery.

Tasty Tuesday

Dump Cake

1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling
1 can (8 ounces) crushed pineapple, undrained
1 package yellow cake mix
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Spread pie filling and pineapple in ungreased 13x9x2 rectangular pan. Stir cake mix (dry) and butter in large bowl, using spoon, until crumbly. Sprinkle mixture evenly over fruit.

Bake for 45-50 minutes or until deep golden brown. Cool 30 minutes. Serve warm or cool with ice cream.

This recipe is so easy and so yummy. Enjoy!!

Generational Costumes

This weekend was spent at my parents house. My husband Roy, was finishing up some tile work for my mom in her newly remodeled kitchen. I fondly call it, "The Boling Bistro". It really looks like a bistro - I am so in love with it. I can't wait for Roy to do our kitchen back splash next. I'll add that to his "Honey Do" list. (not sure why all of a sudden my text is underlined - oh well)

Anyway... I am a little of a clean freak. I'm not a big fan of messy piles and closets where you can't see the floors. My husband says he can't leave a pile for more than an hour w/o me coming in and rearranging and making sure that everything is in it's proper place. So I say, "Is that so bad?"

Sorry, I got side-tracked again. :) While we were at my parents house this weekend I took the plunge and told my mama that we needed to clean out a few closets and de-pile some rooms. Now don't get me wrong, their house is not messy or cluttered, it just seems that lately with my grandmothers passing my mom's house has been the catch-all for everything. We accomplished alot. There was a lot of trash, rummage, donation and bags for other members of the family to take care of. (I'm not naming any names - Frank & the boys - Heart you!!) My mama took it very well and weeded through her belongings like a pro. My motto is if you haven't touched it, worn it, or used the item in more than a year - OUT IT GOES!!!

During the de-cluttering we came across a bag full of Halloween costumes my mother had made for me, my brother and nephews over the years. My mama is quite the seamstress and always (and still does) make the most adorable hand-made Halloween costumes. She could really go into business making these for kids. Caroline had a blast trying all of them on. I wish I could find pictures of me with the same costumes on & put them side by side. How cute would that be? Caroline, The Elephant.

The Big Slide - AGAIN

Okay, blogging friends. This is my first attempt at adding a video to my blog. I know it's sideways, but I'm still learning how to edit. :) It's a work in progress. Enjoy!

All Caroline talked about was riding the big slide at the fair. Okay, that sounds like a great time. She was about an inch to short to ride by herself so mommy was able to ride with her. She climbed the 45 stairs with no problem and reached the top. Once I was situated on the slide, she changed her mind and starting crying. The slide attendant must have seen this happen before because he just picked her up and sat her in my lap and pushed us down and yelled "You will love it. It's fun." That guy must have kids. Ha ha!! Caroline loved it so much we did it again. We climbed the 45 stairs again with no problem and once again she changed her mind and said she was heading back down. Don't think so little sister. This time I was able to grab her and get her on. And.... she loved it. AGAIN!!

Bunnies, Chickens and Turkey's - Oh My!!

Is that a chicken or a rooster? Not sure, I'm a city girl.

Okay, I admit I have never seen a turkey up close before. They really aren't the prettiest animals around. That thing that hangs off of their nose, whoa - not pretty.

We took the girls to our local fair last night to enjoy the food, ride, animals and all of the fun 4-H activities taking place. Makenzie was really interested in seeing the animals first off. On the ride to the fair, all we heard was "Animals coming". (Translation - I'm coming to see you animals.) We headed straight for the barns and found the bunnies, chickens, ducks, roosters and the turkeys. All along the way Makenzie was doing her best animal sounds. It was so cute!! There was one particular turkey who wanted to join in on the fun and do his best Gobble, Gobble, Gobble. That turkey scared the living daylights out of Makenzie. I've never seen a child try to get out of her stroller as fast as she did. She let out the biggest cry ever. I felt so bad for her, but I couldn't help but laugh either. We had not idea a turkey could be so scary.

Tasty Tuesday (on a Wednesday)

Hot Diggity Dog Bread Sticks

1 pkg hot dog buns
Softened butter
Garlic powder
Parsley

Break hot dog buns into two pieces. Butter & sprinkle with garlic powder and parsley.
Place under the broiler until done.

Enjoy!!
