Wal*Mart

Caroline and I ran some errands this evening and of course one of our stops was Walmart.  She asked me why Walmart was called WalMart.  Here is our conversation...

Caroline..."Mommy, why is it called Walmart?"

Me..."Because the man that opened the first Walmart was named Sam Walton so I am sure he wanted to use his name in the store somehow, so he called it Walmart."

Caroline..."No, I think it is named Walmart so you don't forget to bring your Wal-let."  get it{wallet}

How true!!!

Best Friends

Tonight the girls were playing dress up and putting on a recital for us in Caroline's room. They were so sweet dancing arounda nd 'round in circles in their pretty dresses. Roy and I loved watching them and can't believe how fast the two of them are growing up.

Every morning after the girls wake up, I ask each one if they had good sleep and if they had sweet dreams. This morning I asked Makenzie what she had sweet dreams about and she said..."Friends mommy". And I said, "Which friends'? And Makenzie said "Elizabeth". This just broke my heart because her friend Elizabeth just moved to Tennessee. They where in preschool and Moppets together. I hope that we can keep them in touch. Makenzie is only two years old but understands she has friends. It's so sweet.

So tonight Roy and I asked the girls who their friends were and Makenzie said that Caroline was her friend. So sweet!! We asked Caroline the same question and she said that Emma, Claire, Maggie and Rylie were her friends. We said, "What about Makenzie"? Caroline responded, "Makenzie can't be my friend, she lives with me".
Alrighty then.

Letters to Heaven

Last night it was my turn to put Caroline to bed. We read her favorite stories, sang our favorite songs and then we just chatted. We discussed a lot of things. What her favorite food was, her favorite book, favorite candy and how she likes to play with her Dora Princess House the best. I love when we can just relax and cuddle and enjoy the quiet together. Caroline is so sweet and wise beyond her years. As we lay there chatting she asked if she could mail a letter to Great Granny Nell up in Heaven. Where did that come from? I instantly had tears in my eyes. I told her that would be so nice to write Granny Nell a letter but we couldn't really mail it up to Heaven. (I don't think our mailman is ready for that.)
I told my precious, sweet daughter that instead of mailing Granny Nell a letter, we could just talk to her right now. Caroline looked a little confused so I explained that anytime she missed Granny Nell, she could talk to her and tell her about her day, all of the fun things she and Kenzie have been doing this summer, or how she is feeling. She liked this idea and told me after prayers and when I was in bed, she would talk to Granny Nell.
We said our good nights and as I lay in my bed, I hear my sweet, sweet daughter talking to Granny Nell. I couldn't believe it. I heard her tell Granny Nell that she missed her and that Mauw (my mom) missed her the most and that she wished she could come back down from Heaven because she missed her so much. Breaking my heart here, little one.
I am amazed that being just 4-years old, Caroline understands the depth of this. That her Great Grandma Nell has passed on and left this earth to be with our Father up in Heaven.
Truly amazing.

The Big Slide - AGAIN

Okay, blogging friends. This is my first attempt at adding a video to my blog. I know it's sideways, but I'm still learning how to edit. :) It's a work in progress. Enjoy!

All Caroline talked about was riding the big slide at the fair. Okay, that sounds like a great time. She was about an inch to short to ride by herself so mommy was able to ride with her. She climbed the 45 stairs with no problem and reached the top. Once I was situated on the slide, she changed her mind and starting crying. The slide attendant must have seen this happen before because he just picked her up and sat her in my lap and pushed us down and yelled "You will love it. It's fun." That guy must have kids. Ha ha!! Caroline loved it so much we did it again. We climbed the 45 stairs again with no problem and once again she changed her mind and said she was heading back down. Don't think so little sister. This time I was able to grab her and get her on. And.... she loved it. AGAIN!!

Little Artist

Caroline loves to draw, especially her family. She usually sticks to one color for everything. The bodies, arms, legs, hair, the sun and clouds are always the same color. I am trying to get her to come out of the box and express her artistic abilities with a newer color palette. She is always so proud of her drawings (as I am too) and wants to hang them all over the house. Why wouldn't you want everyone to see your beautiful drawings? It's like having your own private art museum.
Here she has drawn our family, all holding hands in a family portrait in the sunshine. I asked her why the cloud looked upset and she told me there was a storm on the way. Okay, better take cover. Putting on some finishing touches. The girls needed hair bows and daddy needed a little hair.
Now we are getting feet and shoes.
Cutting out her portrait to hang up.
I absolutely love this picture. Caroline is so clever and always an "Out of the Box Thinker". She drew our family, all holding hands, and then added stickers for our clothing. How cute is this? Roy has ballet shoes and a purse (something every man needs),I have a pretty tutu on, plus a princess crown and purse, Caroline has a tutu, purse, bow in her hair and a magic wand, and Makenzie has a purse and shoes on. What a beautiful family we have. I also love how she added a bouquet of flowers, like we were in a ballet recital. Caroline, our little artist.

Three stomachs

Caroline has developed a love for Minute Maid Limeade. She loves it even though she says it has a sour taste sometimes. I think it if funny that she loves this beverage because I craved it during my pregnancy with her. Funny how things work, isn't it?
Anyway... she was drinking some Limeade today and got choked a little. I asked her if she was okay and needed me to pat her on the back and she said...
"No, Mommy I am fine. It just went down to the wrong stomach."
"It did? How did that happen?"
"I swallowed and it went to my three stomachs instead of just my one stomach. "
"Okay honey."
I wasn't sure how to reply.
Kids say the darnest things.
