My husband, Roy has been playing ice hockey for many years now, which makes him a great ice skater. Me, not so much. When our oldest daughter Caroline was old enough and showed some interest in ice skating, Roy couldn't wait to get her out on the ice. They have attended several Sunday afternoon ice skating sessions at the local ice rink in our hometown. Caroline has made baby steps in her abilities but Roy is sure it won't be long before she is turning circles.
Well, today the whole family was invited to join in on the fun. Mommy and Makenzie included. Yeah!! Of course Makenzie had no idea really what ice skating was, but if you asked her if she wanted to go, here was her reply..."I go ice skating too". Who could resist?
Makenzie getting laced up and ready to go.
Once she was on her feet, she kept saying..."Too heavy daddy, too heavy". I guess she thought her skates were too heavy to wear. Roy tried to get her to walk a bit, but she didn't like it at all. So off the skates went. She and I watched Roy and Caroline go around the rink a few times and then she thought she would give it another try. (I just know she hated the fact Caroline was out there and she wasn't.) I laced her back up in her skates, Roy took her back out, put her on the practice bar, she fell and that's all she wrote. At least she tried right?
Caroline and Roy
My big ice skater girl!
We ended our ice skating session with a quick snack (M&M's make everything better don't they?) and Makenzie and I headed out to run a few errands. We picked Roy and Caroline up about 45 mintues later and everyone was happy, happy, happy.

They look so cute ice-skating! So fun for Daddy and his little girl :)
I'm sure Makenzie will be out there before long...so funny! Great pictures!
So much fun out there on the ice. That is one thing I miss down here. There are no ice skating rinks. Though I have heard rumor that we may be getting one. And why not we have a professional hockey team in Nashville.
It's great seeing a father daughter moment. Caroline will treasure that forever.
